AATES 2013 will be the 1^st ASEAN level summit hosted in Jakarta which would focus on the human resource shortages in the civil aviation industry. This event is a joint initiative by JAA TO, ICAO, ECAC and the Indonesian Ministry of Transport Human Resources Development Agency and the Directorate of Civil Aviation. For the first time, 3 of the most influential aviation organizations in the world (JAA TO, ECAC and ICAO) will be supporting this inaugural event in Indonesia.

Indonesian airline members are currently going through major fleet expansion programs to support the rapid passenger growth. In view of this expansion, many of these airlines will require al large number of pilots and other aircraft personnel. Some of these airlines have already started to establish strong partnership with flying schools to ensure they have enough pilots to support the fleet expansion.
